The Curse of the Rishis
Following a great battle, Lord Krishna and the Yadava warriors traveled to the sacred coast of Prabhasa. There, in a moment of drunken arrogance, a group of Yadavas disguised Samba as a pregnant woman and mockingly asked visiting sages to predict the gender of the “child.” Insulted by this prank, the sages revealed the truth: Samba was a man and the “child” was an iron mace that would become the instrument of the Yadavas’ destruction.
The Ominous Prophecy
The sages pronounced a chilling curse: the iron mace would bring about the end of the entire Yadu dynasty. Horrified and sobered by their actions, the Yadavas immediately ground the mace into a fine powder and scattered it into the sea, believing the threat had been neutralized. However, the wheels of fate had been set in motion. The powder washed ashore, and from it grew a field of sharp, unforgiving reeds.
The Fateful Fulfillment and Its Aftermath
Years later, the Yadavas returned to Prabhasa. A heated argument broke out on the shore, and in their rage, they reached for weapons. Plucking the very reeds that had grown from the cursed mace, they attacked each other. The reeds were as lethal as blades, and in a single, devastating night, the entire Yadu clan annihilated itself, just as the sages had foretold. Understanding that his earthly purpose was complete, Lord Krishna then departed from the world, marking the end of the Dvapara Yuga and the beginning of a new age.
