Krishna Saves Nanda: A Dive into Divine Love

In the tranquil village of Vrindavan, the sacred Ekadasi fast had just concluded. Nanda Maharaja, Krishna’s beloved foster father, rose at dawn to perform his rituals. Seeking purification, he entered the serene waters of the Yamuna for his morning bath. Unknowingly, he had chosen an inauspicious hour, a time under the jurisdiction of Varuna, the god of the oceans. In an instant, the river’s calm was broken as Varuna’s formidable servants emerged, seizing Nanda and pulling him into the depths to stand before their master’s court.

The Desperate Call

A cry of alarm spread through the community of cowherds. Their beloved leader was gone, snatched by unseen forces. In their fear and helplessness, there was only one refuge: they called out frantically for Krishna and Balarama. Hearing the anguish in their voices, the divine brothers did not delay. With a purpose that churned the waters, they plunged into the river, descending to the magnificent, otherworldly abode of Varuna.

Confrontation and Humility

The scene in Varuna’s court was one of intimidating grandeur, but it paled before the radiance of the two brothers. Varuna, a mighty deity, immediately felt the overwhelming spiritual presence that filled his hall. His authority melted into reverence. He rose from his throne and humbly bowed before Krishna, his voice filled with apology.

“O Lord,” Varuna pleaded, “please forgive this grave error. Your father was taken by my servants out of ignorance, not malice. I did not know he was under Your divine protection.”

With profound respect, he immediately released Nanda Maharaja, honoring him as the father of the Supreme Lord himself.

A Revelation of Truth

Safe once more among the joyful cowherds of Vrindavan, Nanda recounted the incredible tale: how the mighty Varuna had not only released him but had bowed in devotion to his son. The community listened in awe, struggling to reconcile the boundless divinity before them with the playful boy they cherished.

To illuminate their hearts, Krishna chose to reveal a vision beyond the physical world. He granted them divine sight, allowing them to perceive the eternal spiritual sky of Vaikuṇṭha—their true and everlasting home. In that breathtaking moment, the veil of illusion was lifted, and they understood that their Krishna was indeed the Supreme Personality of Godhead, their eternal protector and the source of all worlds.
